Hello!
My name is Therese Diede.
I'm a software engineer!

about me

Wearing other hats.

Running halfs.

Running tasty experiments.

I am a FULL STACK SOFTWARE ENGINEER with a background in urban planning, cartography, and architecture. My primary tech stack for database-driven web apps is Python/Flask with jQuery and PostgreSQL, but I also work with MongoDB and in full-stack JavaScript (ES6): Node.js, Meteor.js, React.js, and other frameworks as needed — always changing! I love to solve problems both practical and imaginary. Clean, modular code is important to me, as is good visual design. The user is always at the forefront of my decisions on application interface.

What drew me to tech was the fast pace, team orientation, and creative environment, where there are always new challenges and it is possible to prototype an entire web application in a relatively short timeframe. I first learned code during my time in graduate school at Columbia University, implementing scripts to analyze open data about all things planning-related New York City and generate countless iterations of geometry to automate architectural possibilities. In both contract and full time roles, I have extensive professional experience in GIS mapping, spatial data analysis, and architectural 3D and BIM modeling. Working with clients as well as independently to build a variety of software tools, web apps, and games, I have the combined equivalent of one+ year of programming experience.

Please connect if you would like to discuss an opportunity to collaborate!
